Three sons of Zakzaky were killed during the clash on Friday between the Shiites and soldiers.


Yesterday I reported that one son of Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky, who led the Shiite protest in Zaria after Friday prayers, was killed after the Islamic group clashed with Nigerian soldiers. (read here). It turns out two more sons of the leader of the Shiite group were killed. Hameed, Mamhud and Ahmed Zakzaky (pictured above) were allegedly killed by Nigerian soldiers in Zaria. 

The Shiite Muslims released a statement alleging that 10 of their members were killed yesterday during their march in Zaria, Kaduna in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. They said among those killed were Sheikh Zaksaky's three sons, a nursing mother and child and two other women.

They claim that security agents arrested three sons of Sheikh Zakzaky, and later shot two of the three men in detention. Here is the press statement below...

Nigeria won first gold in Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.


 The Nigerian weight-lifter, Chika Amalaha has given Nigeria its first gold at the Commonwealth Games which started in Glasgow, Scotland yesterday July 24th..

Chika won the gold medal today after pulling a total of 196 points in snatch and clean and jerk in the 53kg class to beat her competitors from New Guinea & India who picked the silver & bronze medals.

Baseball player, Prince Fielder proudly showed off his big body in the 2014 ESPN Body Issues. His photo shots have been more of a topic than Serge Ibaka, Michael Phelps and other athletes who appeared nude in the issues because he's bigger that the usual slim and athletic body types that magazines like to celebrate.

President GEJ sworn in former Kano governor, Shekarau, 3 others as ministers (PHOTOS)

President Jonathan this morning swore in four new ministers into the Federal Cabinet. The newly appointed Ministers are; Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau as new Minister of Education, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye as Minister of State for Works, Mr Stephen Oru as Minister of the Niger Delta and Mr Abdul Bulama as Minister of Science and Technology./

President Jonathan also announced the redeployment of current Minister of Works, Bashir Yuguda to become the Minister of State for Finance and substantive Minister of National Planning. See more photos below...
